Kathleen McGrath, Therapist

Kathleen McGrath, MSW, LCSW

Kathleen McGrath helps children, adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults across Kansas navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clinical expertise, and a practical approach to healing. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy and couples therapy for patients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, bipolar disorder, relationship concerns, grief, and major life transitions. Kathleen is especially experienced in supporting individuals who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and are working toward stability, recovery, and renewed confidence in daily life.

Kathleen is passionate about helping patients rebuild emotional resilience during difficult periods of transition and recovery. She understands that returning home after inpatient psychiatric care can feel overwhelming, and she works collaboratively with patients to create a safe, supportive environment focused on progress, coping skills, and long-term wellness. Her approach combines empathy with evidence-based treatment to help patients feel understood while developing practical strategies for managing symptoms and improving quality of life.

She incorporates several evidence-based interventions into treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and additional therapeutic approaches tailored to each patient’s needs. Kathleen also has experience supporting individuals and families navigating childhood behavior concerns, school avoidance, women’s mental health concerns, and couples issues. She works with a diverse range of populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals, military veterans, first responders, and patients with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.

Since beginning her clinical practice in 2013, Kathleen has remained committed to creating an affirming and collaborative therapeutic experience where patients feel empowered to move toward meaningful change. Her background and training allow her to support patients with both short-term challenges and more complex mental health conditions.

Outside of her clinical work, Kathleen enjoys reading, hiking, horseback riding, and traveling. These interests help her maintain balance and bring curiosity and perspective into her work with patients.
