See what our patients are saying

I have been with LifeStance for over two years and couldn't be happier. I had my previous Doctor for 25 years & reached out to LifeStance because he was close to retirement. I contacted LifeStance to begin seeing a psychiatrist and am extremely grateful I did. My Doctor, Dr. D'Oyen, is kind and efficient. The registration process was simple and everything is above board. They require you to obtain verification from your primary care physician, which is a solid verification that the medical entity in play is legit and competent. My initial visit with Dr. D'Oyen went smoothly and I was asked a great deal of questions about my medical history and current medications. They obtain a comprehensive picture of what the best treatment is and proceed to help. They are also excellent at listening to suggestions and the desires of their patients which is very valuable as a lot of medical providers can be difficult to communicate with openly or allow patients to feel heard. Dr. D'Oyen is one of the finest Doctors I have had the pleasure of receiving treatment from. It is apparent that he cares. I feel supported by LifeStance as a whole. They are very responsive to inquiries as well as assisting me with any issue I have ever had. Their protocol with prescriptions and communication with my pharmacy is tip top. I have never had any issues with obtaining my prescription and it is always called in on time. They also text a link to the medication which includes useful information and Rx discount cards. They also accept many forms of health insurance. I look forward to my appointments with Dr. D'Oyen. I enjoy checking in with him each month. We always check in regarding my treatment, although I find myself speaking with him about all facets of life and he is a treat to hang out & talk to. Seeing that anxiety medication is controlled, it can be quite a a process with refills at times and with LifeStance, I have never experienced any push back from the pharmacy or delays in refills. I use two entities that provide online care and prescribe controlled medications and have been extremely lucky that they are both legitimate, helpful, & caring organizations. Having had the same psychiatrist since 1995, I was not excited about finding a Doctor that could hold up to my previous psychiatrist and I feel like I located a Doctor and entity that holds up to the epic treatment and support I had from my initial psychiatrist. I highly recommend LifeStance and Dr. D'Oyen. If you are looking for a solid, competent, helpful, compassionate & supportive psychiatric entity, LifeStance should be your first stop. I don't know where I would be without them & don't care to find out. Thank you, Dr. D'Oyen and LifeStance for all you do. Have a good day. Cheers!!

Finally, a one-stop shop for mental health. There are complete bios and photos for each provider, making it very easy to find a good fit without having to “try-on” several providers first. Billing is all centralized, so once your insurance is approved, you simply pay your co-pay each time you see a provider—you do not have to wait for insurance reimbursement, and they take MOST insurance providers, including HMOs. The patient portal is fantastic, making communicating with your provider, reception, and/or billing a breeze. And you can have video appointments with any of the providers and they are billed just like a regular appointment. You get a notification after the appointment that you owe a co-pay, and simply pay right through the patient portal. You use a HIPPA compliant website or app for the video appointments, making them safe and secure. Since they have offices all over CA, you could find the perfect fit with a provider in a different part of CA and still see them via video appointments. After years of struggling to find the help that me and my family needed, PCPA has been a godsend. I’ve recommended it to friends who have all said the same things—they found a fantastic provider, making appointments is super easy, the portal is great, etc.! I could not be more pleased with the services. The office on Wilshire Blvd, near Fairfax, is lovely. Also, if you do need to speak with someone about a bill or scheduling, you can call and usually get a real person on the line right away. One of the hardest things about getting help when you need it with mental illness is being completely on your own finding the help you need. It can feel endless, overwhelming, and so difficult. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling with this to go to the PCPA website first. Thank you PCPA. You’ve made a huge difference in my and my family’s wellbeing.

I have been a patient of Life Stance for almost a year now. My current psychiatrist assigned to me is Dr. William Bewley who is doing good job with my treatment and prescription manangement. I believe that he cares for my well being. We have only met via video calls and not in person. In the beginning when I signed up with LifeStance, my first visit was and in-person consulation, with someone who isn't even a real psychiatrist ( Megan Gotiangco) , I met her once for a consultation at the La Jolla office. Afterwards, I immediately requested a replacement. Her candor and demeanor made me feel uncomfortable. She just sat there judging me with her looks while doing the first assessment. She was not willing to even fully prescribe the medication that I knew that I needed( for my anxiety and depression) based on my previous psychiatrist sessions that I had seen out of state. Once I requested the replacement and assigned by Dr. Bewley, it has been better since. I do have another issue with the fact that there's no direct number to call the office in La Jolla and billing department are not on top of what they are supposed to be charging me for my copayments. There are errors in my billing even after I provided a copy of my updated Anthem Blue Cross card which I made a point of going to their La Jolla office in person so that the receptionist can make a copy and submit it to billing. I think communication should be improved. I would deduct 2 stars and make this a 3 star review but my current psychiatrist is helping me feel better. Thank you. ( I had to edit this review again because of terrible grammatical errors I made!)

I have been seeing Dr. Keren Friedman through Lifestance for almost two years and I can confidently say that Dr. Friedman has been a crucial aspect of my successful mental health journey. For decades I have strived to improve my mental health, but I never imagined to I would feel this good. Prior to seeing Dr. Friedman, I was hesitant to take psychiatric medication. I still was struggling with mental symptoms despite consistently attending therapy sessions for over 10 years, implementing healthy changes in my life regarding work, relationships, exercise, and diet. When I first met with Dr. Friedman, she suggested medication, but I never felt forced to start the medication. I was allowed to do my own research and take my time before starting medication slowly. Dr. Friedman allows our sessions to be collaborative. I will request to either adjust the dosage of my medication, try different medication, or wean off of a medication. Dr. Friedman will my request and together we will decide on changes to my medication dosage. Having the perspective of both forms of treatment (psychosocial and psychiatric pharmaceuticals), I am confident psychiatric medication should accompany regularly consistent therapy. I confidently recommend Dr. Friedman to individuals who are committed to doing the work—attending regular therapy sessions, journaling their medication experiences, and staying engaged in the ongoing process of adjusting treatment as needed.

Better than expected. I’ve gone to a few different Drs. In different places, and let me tell you that despite my lack of “faith” given other experiences, I actually was positively surprised. I contacted 4 different Drs for different things, and all of them, including administrative staff, ( all different ages range and races) I was positively surprised of their good attitude, empathy, help, knowledge, and I can go on. They were all helpful a did their job efficiently and very professional, with dedication and empathy. And actually felt they were genuine and cared, something hard to find these days. Moreover, all covered by the insurance, of course, except for the co-pay, but sometimes that makes it hard to get good quality in Drs, and I definitely recommend trying LifeStance and I would trust any of their Dr options based on my experience.

My therapist is five stars - she is the consummate professional and has helped me more than any therapist ever has. Her perspective on life and relationships and her ability to empathize is amazing. Her advice has made me uncomfortable only because it’s something I’d rather not do but am so relieved and grateful when I do it. Her advice helps me and my relationships. I trust her implicitly. The checking in process is long and redundant. There is really no need for me to enter in my personal information for every visit and the fact I have to enter it in twice is beyond me. It’s like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. And it takes upwards of eight minutes!
