Lynora Metoyer, Nurse Practitioner
My name is Dr. Lynora J. Metoyer. I am a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1987 with a Bachelors of Nursing degree. I practiced as a heart/kidney/liver transplant nurse and then transferred to Medical Surgical ICU at St. Luke’s Hospital. I then obtained my Master’s degree in Nursing and Post Masters FNP from University of Texas and Houston Baptist University respectively. I received my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2011 from Chatham University in Pittsburgh. I received my PMHNP certification in 2021. I practiced at MD Anderson Cancer Center for 27 years in Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy. I am also an adjunct faculty at Chamberlain University where I have taught in the FNP program since 2014. Soon to teach in the PMHNP track as well. I had my Capstone project published by JADPRO journal, as well as several poster presentations.
I absolutely love my profession. Throughout my career I have mostly worked with the sickest of the sick. I have seen the impact of these illnesses on not only the patients but their families as well. My greatest passion and gift is to be able to meet people where they are in life and strive to get them back on track to live a rich and meaningful life. I believe that I will be able to help those with mental illness to find healthy perceptions of themselves, and to strengthen their relationships and family lives to live a peaceful, complete and well-rounded life going forward.
As for me personally,I have been happily married for 32 years to Eugene A. Metoyer, Jr. I am the mother of 3 grown children and grandmother of 3. Hobbies include traveling, decorating my home, football, and exercise.
