Zahra Somani is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Illinois. She holds a BA in Secondary Education from DePaul University, an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and a Psy.D. in School Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
As a school psychologist obtaining a clinical license, Zahra has a strong understanding of how educational systems operate and the types of supports available to students and families. She is skilled at explaining assessment results in clear, accessible language and helping parents understand how those findings may relate to everyday functioning.
In her therapy practice, Zahra provides evidence‑based services to children, adolescents, and adults. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, trauma, identity development, and emotional regulation. Zahra focuses on creating a supportive space where clients feel heard and empowered to build insight, develop coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change. While her background in school psychology informs her understanding of development and behavior, her therapeutic work is centered on the whole person and tailored to each client’s unique needs.
In her spare time, Zahra loves to bake and try to challenge herself with new recipes. She loves to read in any genre that piques her interest. She likes to watch TV dramas and wants to learn how to knit. She also enjoys taking long walks with her dog, Khloe.
