Dorit Ben-Ami, Psychiatrist
Dr. Dorit Ben-Ami, MD, helps patients and families find stability, clarity, and improved quality of life through thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care. Practicing at LifeStance Health and serving patients across Michigan, she provides medication management for children, adolescents, teens, adults, and seniors, supporting individuals at every stage of life with compassionate, evidence-based treatment.
Dr. Ben-Ami is a medical doctor and psychiatric prescriber with extensive experience treating complex mental health conditions. Her clinical focus includes ADHD across the lifespan, bipolar disorder, and PTSD/trauma, with additional expertise in depression, anxiety, and substance use–related concerns through medication management. She works closely with patients to understand the full picture of their symptoms, medical history, and life circumstances, with the goal of creating balanced treatment plans that promote both mental and overall health. Dr. Ben-Ami treats children and adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults, and has experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those within the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with developmental disabilities, and military veterans, among others.
A particular passion of Dr. Ben-Ami’s work involves supporting individuals who have been recently discharged from psychiatric hospitals and those involved in court-ordered treatment. She understands the vulnerability and stress that can accompany these transitions and focuses on continuity of care, stabilization, and helping patients regain a sense of control and direction as they move forward.
In addition to medication management, Dr. Ben-Ami incorporates supportive approaches such as mindfulness and parenting skills when appropriate, and she offers care to patients with additional needs and diagnoses beyond her primary areas of focus. She speaks French and Hebrew, which allows her to support a broader range of patients.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Ben-Ami enjoys organic gardening, cooking, traveling, and caring for her many pets.
