Curran Commerford, Psychologist
Dr. Curran Commerford helps teens, adults, and seniors in California navigate life’s challenges through compassionate and evidence-based therapy. He works with individuals facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and trauma, providing a safe and supportive space to foster resilience and healing. His goal is to help patients build practical coping skills, improve emotional balance, and find greater confidence in navigating everyday stressors.
Dr. Commerford is particularly passionate about supporting individuals involved in workers’ compensation cases, current legal matters, and disability-related concerns. He understands the stress these situations place on mental health and overall well-being, and he provides thoughtful guidance to help clients manage the emotional impact while addressing the clinical needs required for documentation and treatment. This specialized expertise allows him to bridge the gap between mental health care and the unique challenges of legal and workplace systems.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Commerford draws on interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT for Insomnia, and mindfulness-based strategies when appropriate. He provides therapy to diverse populations, including individuals on the autism spectrum, those with developmental disabilities, first responders, military veterans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. By tailoring his approach to each patient’s circumstances, he ensures that care is flexible, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based methods.
Outside of his work, Dr. Commerford enjoys collecting cards, playing guitar, experimenting with drumming, and coaching or playing basketball. He also finds balance in long walks with his dog and time spent by the ocean, activities that reflect his appreciation for connection, creativity, and movement.
