Karen Suetterlein, Psychologist
Dr. Karen Suetterlein is a licensed psychologist in Delaware and Maryland. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a concentration in family and child studies from Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA. She holds a MS in Pastoral Counseling and a BS in Nursing. Dr. Suetterlein has 12 + years of experience as an out patient clinician. Dr. Suetterlein’s psycho-dynamic and family systems approach to therapy blends together knowledge, experience, client collaboration and best practice to assist clients with meeting their goals thereby increasing mental health and wellness. Dr. Suetterlein’s broad experience, EMDR work and assorted theoretical techniques woven into her approach, provide a rich ground from which to work with today’s clients, whether they be 3 or 70 yrs old. She has extensive insight and experience specifically within area’s of complex trauma, family systems, and child & adolescent mental health. While at a community health center, Dr. Suetterlein also functioned as the Psychological Assessment Coordinator where, she fine tuned her ability at clarifying diagnoses, create individual goals and develop recommendations designed specifically to meet the needs of clients and their families. During the tail end of the pandemic, Dr. Suetterlein was able to work at a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center providing psychological care to those who admitted to the facility due to illness, injury or aging. Clients participated in therapy to address their frustration, anxiety, depression and complications from the COVID- 19 pandemic. Dr. Suetterlein continues to work with individuals of all stages of life who have ongoing issues left by COVID 19, as well as other life changing events, in order to restore wellbeing to one’s life. Dr. Suetterlein views therapy as a journey between the client and the therapist. They travel as a team working together to assist the client move to a stable and health place in their life. As the client finds their goals met and their life improved, it is believed that they will be ready to face the new journeys that await them.
