LaToya Small, Psychologist
Dr. LaToya Small, Psy.D., helps children, teens, and adults in Maryland navigate life’s challenges through expert psychological assessment and compassionate, evidence-based care. Her clinical focus spans early childhood through midlife, offering support for individuals and families across key developmental stages. She is particularly skilled in working with individuals managing anxiety, trauma, and ADHD, tailoring her approach to support long-term mental wellness and growth. At LifeStance Health, Dr. Small draws from deep expertise in psychological testing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to evaluate and treat emotional and behavioral concerns with precision and empathy. She offers support for clients facing postpartum depression and anxiety, reproductive challenges, and the often-overlooked mental health needs that accompany life transitions. Whether helping children regulate emotions, adolescents cope with identity development, or adults recalibrate during career or family changes, Dr. Small provides care that is responsive to individual experiences and goals. Dr. Small has a special passion for working with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities, as well as military veterans navigating PTSD or re-entry stress. Her approach is both affirming and grounded in clinical rigor, informed by years of service in military mental health settings and her own lived experience. She creates a welcoming space for diverse populations and supports clients with compassion, respect, and resilience-building strategies. Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Small is active in community advocacy and peer support initiatives, including contributions to Post-Partum Support of Virginia. Having overcome significant personal health challenges, she brings unique empathy to her work, helping clients find strength through vulnerability and adapt to life-altering events.
