Kirk Mochrie, Psychologist
Dr. Kirk Mochrie is a Psychologist in North Carolina who has been practicing since 2019. He completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). He also received his master’s degree from UNCW in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Substance Abuse Treatment. Finally, Dr. Mochrie completed his doctorate degree in Clinical Health Psychology at East Carolina University. Dr. Mochrie believes that treatment starts with a great assessment to fully understand a person’s diagnoses as well as overall strengths and weaknesses. He conducts full assessment evaluations with recommendations to help improve insight and treatment recommendations among the patients he works with. Dr. Mochrie has expertise in the treatment of mood disorders and associated concerns, including anxiety and depression, personality disorders (primarily Borderline Personality Disorder), Substance Use Disorders, and ADHD. Dr. Mochrie also has expertise and experience in assessment and provides psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic evaluations for various mental health disorders including learning disorders. In addition, he has experience with personality assessment and ADHD evaluations. He has also received specialized training in DBT for individuals who experience significant emotion dysregulation and who engage in self-injury and suicidal behaviors as well as extensive training in working with individuals who engage in problematic substance use. He has obtained individual therapist certification in DBT through the Linehan Board of Certification (LBC). Outside of work, Dr. Mochrie enjoys spending his time with his daughter, girlfriend, and friends, playing guitar, cooking/grilling, taking care of animals, and watching sports. In addition, he is extremely enthusiastic about assessment and his related clinical and research activities.
