Sangeeta Akundi, Psychologist
Educational Background: I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University, New Orleans and my master’s and doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Dallas, Texas. Throughout my graduate and undergraduate internships and practicums, I gained experience working with a variety of populations and ages, as well as varied settings. I have completed my internship in an inpatient psychiatric unit providing individual and group therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities, personality disorders, and criminal backgrounds. I have experience providing supervision to students in an undergraduate program and management of behavior therapists to ensure productivity and benchmark requirements are met. Therapeutic Approach: My training is in cognitive-behavior therapy but throughout the course of my professional experience, I have found that a combination of techniques and approaches are useful in treating individuals. I believe that every individual is unique and responds better to tailored therapeutic approaches. My goal in working with anyone is to be direct and genuine. I look to work with a person in a collaborative manner and provide an environment that is motivating and empowering to help each individual attain their goals and reach their fullest potential. Hobbies/Interests: Some of my favorite things to do include spending time with my husband and two children, watching football, dancing, reading, and watching movies.
