“I strive to help patients better understand and compensate for their cognitive difficulties, and to provide education about modifiable risk factors that are proven to promote optimal brain health across the lifespan.” Dr. Miarmi is a board-eligible clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in neuropsychological assessment for adults and older adults (geriatrics). She has researched, published, and presented on such topics as the impact of distractions on heuristic processing, the relationship between mental fatigue and stimulus-driven attention, environmental awareness, and brain health in aging. Dr. Miarmi has experience working with a diverse patient population, including individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and various neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular injury. Her specialty areas and clinical interests include cognitive aging, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Dr. Miarmi earned her Ph.D. from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts (with a specialization in Neuropsychology). She completed her pre-doctoral internship in Neuropsychology at Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital in Bedford, MA in 2012 and a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and Harvard Medical School in 2014. Before joining Health Care Associates in Medicine, P.C., a division of the Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group, in 2017, she was a staff neuropsychologist in the Brain Fit Club at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and held an academic appointment as Instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. During her time with the Brain Fit Club, Dr. Miarmi solidified her passion for educating adults and older adults on behavioral and lifestyle factors geared toward supporting healthy brain aging and lowering risk of cognitive decline, as well as offering targeted, multimodal interventions with an emphasis on optimizing daily functioning and overall quality of life. In addition to neuropsychological evaluations, she provided cognitive-behavioral therapy/coaching for treatment of attention-related disorders and led evidence-based psychoeducation and cognitive remediation/skills-building groups for patients with attention and memory problems. Dr. Miarmi joined HCA after moving back to her home state of New Jersey in order to be closer to family. During her time at HCA, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Neuropsychology and gained specialized training in a mindfulness-oriented treatment program for chronic pain led by Dr. Eric Garland of the University of Utah. Dr. Miarmi joined Lifestance Health (Manhattan office) in June 2022 where she conducts neuropsychological evaluation of adults with a variety of neurological, developmental, and psychiatric medical conditions.
