Dr. Megan Howes, Therapist
Dr. Megan Howes helps individuals, couples, and families across California navigate life’s challenges with warmth, expertise, and a commitment to fostering lasting change. She works with teens, young adults, adults, and seniors, offering a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their experiences and build healthier ways of coping. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, or relationship concerns, Megan partners with her clients to help them move toward greater balance, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Megan is particularly passionate about supporting clients through PTSD and trauma recovery, depression and anxiety, and both women’s/men’s issues. She understands the unique emotional and relational complexities these challenges bring and uses a compassionate, evidence-based approach to guide her clients toward healing. Her work often integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Couples/Marital Counseling to help clients process their experiences and develop the skills needed for long-term wellness.
In her practice at LifeStance Health, Megan also specializes in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, first responders, military veterans, alternative relationship structures, Kink Identified and recognizing the specific stressors these groups may face. Her approach is collaborative and inclusive, honoring each client’s unique identity and life story. In addition to her primary areas of expertise, she offers support for grief, gender identity exploration, midlife and later-life transitions, and reproductive challenges.
Outside of her professional role, Megan enjoys expressing her creativity through music and DIY crafts, reading on her Kindle, and spending time with her family. Whether camping, playing video games together, or enjoying the outdoors, she values connection and balance—principles she also brings into her therapeutic work.
