Mariia Sen, Therapist
If you experience a lack of stability in life and have conflicting feelings, if you struggle to understand cultural messages or people around you, do not hesitate to ask for help. I am open to seeing clients from all walks of life, and I am especially passionate about helping recent immigrants and people who have just moved to Los Angeles. I provide therapy in English, Ukrainian, and Russian, and I would be happy to create a warm and compassionate space for you to make sense of your experiences and grow as a person.
I am a certified EMDR therapist, and I love helping clients who experience dissociation as a result of their trauma. It is important to me to make sure that clients of all cultures and sexual orientations feel safe and empowered in therapy. I believe that we are all born with a great potential for growth, however our childhood experiences can either bring out that potential or hinder it. Together we can explore your strengths and areas that you need to develop in order to reach your goals and improve your quality of life.
I believe that the client is an expert and can decide how long therapy has to continue. My approach is trauma-focused and psychodynamic; however I choose an orientation and techniques based on each individual and their requests in therapy. I use Jungian techniques to work with dreams and to help client make difficult decisions in life. I am open to using a short-term solution-focused approach if that is what the client needs at the moment. I genuinely care about each individual and honor what happens in the therapy room. I encourage clients’ feedback and focus on creating an atmosphere of safety, hope, and healing.
