Jason Arkeden, Therapist
Are you feeling out of place? Are past or current traumas making you feel stuck? Does it feel like no one else can relate? Jason Arkeden, Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, wants to connect with you. Having experienced his own mental health concerns and struggled to find the right help, he’s ready to be your support. Jason’s skilled in helping his clients transform maladaptive coping skills into new, healthy ways of thinking. He recognizes that trauma and life experiences may necessitate coping mechanisms designed for survival, but if these tools are no longer serving you, he can help you change your patterns.
Jason knows firsthand the challenges that come with change too. His father was formerly in the United States Air Force, so he moved residences frequently in his childhood. While this regularly-changing environment—combined with his own mental health crossroads—was anxiety-filled, it also encouraged him to think creatively. This translates well for his clients, meaning that there’s no cookie cutter solutions. He welcomes your unique situation and believes it deserves an individualized plan. (Jason’s preference for uniqueness even shines through in his love for fictional writing and exotic animal husbandry.)
This personalization keeps Jason feeling rewarded any time he’s helped his clients see or think in a new way. He enjoys helping clients uncover their own wisdom and truths so they can adapt rather than surrender to their pains. As a result, he’s supported clients with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and gender diversity or dysphoria. Additionally, his clients may have secondary concerns like ADHD or OCD.
Jason earned his MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Alamosa, CO, after graduating with a Psychology degree from Arizona State University. He is continuing his mental health studies and is trained in EMDR. Jason invites you to feel his support and discover a thriving life.
