Lorraine Winkler, Therapist
Lorraine Winkler, LCSW, helps adults and seniors across Florida build stability, restore hope, and move forward after life’s most difficult experiences. At LifeStance Health, she provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy grounded in clinical expertise and compassion. With decades of experience in mental health care, she supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, and bipolar disorder, offering practical tools and steady guidance tailored to each person’s goals. Lorraine is especially passionate about working with individuals recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital, those participating in court-ordered treatment, and clients involved in workers’ compensation cases. She understands the complexity of re-entering daily life after acute psychiatric care and collaborates closely with clients to reduce relapse risk, strengthen coping skills, and rebuild independence. Her approach emphasizes accountability, dignity, and measurable progress while addressing co-occurring concerns such as substance use, trauma history, or mood instability. Her therapeutic style integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Therapy to help clients shift unhelpful thought patterns, increase psychological flexibility, and gradually confront avoided fears. She has extensive experience supporting survivors of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as individuals coping with grief, later-life transitions, and serious medical conditions. Lorraine also works with military/veterans, first responders, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, providing informed, respectful care that acknowledges each client’s lived experience. Before becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Lorraine practiced as a Registered Nurse, bringing a strong foundation in medical and psychiatric care to her psychotherapy work. Since beginning her clinical practice in 1982, she has remained committed to trauma-informed, ethically grounded treatment that promotes resilience and long-term recovery. Outside of her clinical work, Lorraine enjoys writing and has authored several books. She is fascinated by planets and the cosmos, and she finds creative expression through cooking and acrylic painting. Lorraine welcomes adults and seniors throughout Florida who are seeking experienced, structured, and compassionate mental health treatment.
