Sarah Baker, Therapist
I believe that being the best version of ourselves requires work including connecting with emotions, thoughts and behaviors that at times may be uncomfortable to address. I strive to meet my clients where they are at in their journey by creating a safe, non-judgmental and empathetic relationship with my clients. At times, it may feel as though one is having difficulty changing patterns of behavior or overcoming life’s challenges, I help to guide change to develop a more self-aware and engaged sense of self through a collaborative approach with the client and therapist relationship. I utilize an eclectic approach with clients with the understanding that each client’s needs are unique to them and change throughout the therapeutic process. While working with a client, I believe it is vital to integrate a multicultural and sensitive approach to the therapeutic processes. I will help navigate the therapeutic process with therapeutic techniques that include a Client Centered, Feminist, Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief, and Trauma Focused method. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Illinois. I obtained my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with Academic Distinction and a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology from Argosy University. I have experience working with a variety of clients in judicial, residential, outpatient, and community mental health settings. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and traveling out west.
