Andy Benson, Therapist
Andy Benson, LCSW & CADC, brings warmth, compassion, and deep understanding to his work with adults and seniors across Illinois. Known for his calm, non-judgmental presence, Andy creates a supportive space where clients feel truly heard and respected.
He specializes in treating substance use, trauma, PTSD, and co-occurring mental health conditions, and has extensive experience working with veterans, first responders, and older adults. Whether someone is facing addiction, anxiety, or life transitions, Andy meets them with empathy and honesty, guiding the healing process with care and hope.
At LifeStance Health, Andy uses evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and Couples Counseling. He is especially attuned to challenges in midlife and beyond, as well as men’s issues and OCD. As a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, he takes a nuanced, trauma-informed approach to substance use treatment, addressing root causes—not just symptoms.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys reading, running, movies, and travel—interests that help him stay grounded, and that he encourages in others. His down-to-earth style and clinical expertise help clients feel safe, supported, and empowered on their path to healing.
