Steph Key, Therapist
Steph Key is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Illinois. Steph’s approach is person centered with an emphasis on mindfulness, play, and community care from a trauma informed perspective. Their care also focuses on community empowerment through psychoeducation, anti-oppression, and a focus on anti-racism. They believe that assisting people in becoming aware of how systems of oppression impact communities and individuals helps to empower both individuals and their communities. Steph’s work has been with marginalized communities, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. They utilize CBT, narrative, mindfulness, DBT, and play therapy. Steph is currently working on developing a combination of play and narrative therapeutic models for adults through creativity and creative writing. They firmly believe that clients are the experts, and they are students on a journey together. Steph believes that a therapist’s job is to help clients develop the skills they need to cope in a way that allows them to thrive. Outside of work, Steph’s personal passions and hobbies are endless. They love creative writing and have been creative writing since they were 8 years old. One day, Steph would love to write a book series about a supernatural social work agency. They love music and their favorite genres include folk metal, numetal, rap, neo soul, alternative soul, 90’s r&b, alternative rock, and pop punk. With the occasional blues track. They love reading books across genres but especially poetry. They also love anime because it has excellent storytelling and incredibly dynamic character relationships.
