Johanna Almestica, Therapist

Mrs. Johanna Almestica is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts who has been practicing since 2000. She possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Johanna is committed as a therapist to be an instrument of change, so that her patients can become empowered and knowledgeable in handling challenging situations in life. Johanna’s clinical experience includes working with patients who struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. Additionally, she is versed in the treatment of addiction disorders, such as alcohol misuse and opioid disorders, among other addictions. Most recently, Johanna has become increasingly interested in the treatment of trauma and PTSD symptoms, which are often very debilitating. Being able to utilize EMDR therapy has been paramount in this endeavor. Furthermore, Johanna is completely fluent in English and Spanish and is dedicated to working with culturally diverse populations. Outside of work, Johanna enjoys reading, gardening, decorating, and photography.
