Melissa Serra, Therapist
Melissa Serra, LMSW, helps adults across Michigan build resilience, gain clarity, and move forward with confidence through compassionate, evidence-based individual therapy at LifeStance Health. Serving patients statewide in MI, she partners with young adults, adults, and seniors to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Melissa creates a grounded, collaborative space where clients feel heard and supported while developing practical tools to improve daily functioning and emotional well-being. Melissa has extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, and ADHD, three of the most common and disruptive mental health conditions affecting adults in Michigan. She understands how persistent worry, low mood, or attention difficulties can impact relationships, work performance, and self-esteem. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based strategies, she helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, regulate emotions, and strengthen focus. Her approach is structured yet flexible, empowering clients to build sustainable coping skills that extend beyond the therapy room. In addition to these specialties, Melissa supports individuals navigating midlife transitions and later life transitions, including career changes, shifting family roles, and grief. She works with members of the LGBTQ+ community and military/veterans, offering affirming and culturally responsive care. While her primary focus includes anxiety, depression, and ADHD, she also has experience addressing additional concerns such as alcohol and drug use issues and women’s issues. Since beginning her clinical practice in 2012, Melissa has remained committed to providing high-quality mental health therapy grounded in proven techniques. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she integrates CBT and mindfulness to tailor treatment plans to each client’s goals, whether they are seeking symptom relief, personal growth, or greater life balance. Outside of her clinical work, Melissa enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and crafting—activities that reflect her appreciation for creativity, nature, and mindful living.
