Mackenzie Esson, Therapist
Mackenzie Esson, LPCC, helps teens and adults across Minnesota build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy and couples therapy for teens, adults, and seniors, offering a supportive and structured environment where clients feel heard and understood. Her clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, with additional interventions tailored to each individual’s needs. Mackenzie specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, helping clients better understand their thoughts, regulate emotions, and develop healthier coping strategies. She works with a diverse range of populations, including individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, those with autism spectrum disorders, and individuals involved in adoption or foster care, while also offering additional areas of expertise to meet a wide variety of mental health needs. Her work emphasizes collaboration, empowerment, and practical skill-building to support lasting change. A significant focus of Mackenzie’s practice includes court ordered treatment and working with individuals involved in current legal matters. She is passionate about supporting clients through these complex and often stressful situations, helping them remain engaged in treatment, meet legal requirements, and build healthier patterns that promote long-term stability and personal growth. Mackenzie earned her education from Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota Duluth and has been practicing since 2021. She is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure her clients receive high-quality, up-to-date care. Outside of her clinical work, Mackenzie enjoys doing puzzles, going on walks with her dogs, and hosting weekly movie nights with her family—activities that reflect her belief in balance, connection, and self-care.
