Jennifer Chiaramonti, Therapist
Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. You may feel afraid, confused, ashamed, or stuck in defeated exhaustion from a long-term problem. Or, you could be reeling and disoriented from a brand-new problem that has changed life as you knew it. Yet, you are also thinking about starting therapy which makes you persistent, open-minded, and courageous despite the challenges you presently face. You desire to feel and function better. You are on your own side. That’s a great starting point for our work together.
With one of my favorite quotes being, “grow through what you go through,” I consider myself to be a great match for clients who want to learn, gain insight, heal, cope, and find meaning in the midst of pain, worry, confusion, or challenges. I am a clinical therapist, career coach, and faculty member. I assist adolescents, adults, and seniors with a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to: mood, relationships, trauma, life transitions and adjustments, stress, low self-esteem, occupational and workplace concerns, stressors associated with cultural issues, and grief and loss. I practice from a trauma-informed, multicultural orientation, considering systemic and societal issues that contribute to human suffering. As such, I am neurodivergent affirming and a BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ ally.
Because I believe that we cannot separate our mental health from our physical, relational, or spiritual health, I will help you to integrate the past and present, as well as address your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings for holistic wellbeing. I will also leverage your strengths to help you address challenges in your life. You can expect me to conduct myself in a professional, compassionate, honest, confidential, and nonjudgmental way. I will listen carefully, developing a custom treatment plan that may integrate multiple therapeutic modalities to best meet your needs. Since I have an educational style, I will explain why I am using these specific approaches to assist you, and what benefits or risks you can expect. You should feel well-informed as we collaborate at every step of your care. Previous clients describe working with me as warm, kind, safe, challenging, funny, validating, educational, empowering, and insightful.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy teaching graduate-level clinical counseling courses as an adjunct university instructor. I find meaning in mentoring, training, and supervising students who will become the future of the counseling profession. I am also a lifelong learner who frequently engages in classes for professional development and personal enrichment. Some of my interests include traveling, arts and culture, photography, spending time with my cats, reading, exercise, meditation and contemplative practices, ancestry research, and time with loved ones.
