Olivia Olinger, Therapist
Olivia Olinger is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York who has been practicing since 2021. Olivia is able to help clients discover and work through underlying issues, mindsets, and habits that contribute to larger presenting problems, such as difficulties with communication, insecurities, current or past relationships, and past traumas. She has years of experience working with male clients and is able to understand, relate, and build rapport in order to foster a comfortable and open relationship. Olivia also has extensive experience working with individuals who have dealt with regrets encompassing shame, embarrassment, and guilt, which has allowed her to develop a very nonjudgmental and open-minded approach. In her experience, many individuals have thoughts and symptoms they are ashamed or embarrassed to admit, and she believes a therapist should provide a relationship in which the client is reassured that their feelings and thoughts are normal given their experiences. Olivia believes some individuals need a style of therapy that emphasizes the importance of accountability and proactivity to foster life changes that make their overall functioning healthier and happier. As a therapist, she thinks it is important to be very honest and open with clients, not only helping them through skills and techniques but also providing psychoeducation to explain and guide them through why they may be feeling the way they do. She prioritizes positive reinforcement and consistent attention to building self-confidence, especially for those managing symptoms of anxiety or depression. Olivia has significant experience with individuals suffering from severe anxieties or panic disorder and has successfully fostered progress, which in turn has increased their self-confidence. Lastly, she has experience working with adolescents who have had suicidal ideation and engaged in self-harming behaviors. Outside of work, Olivia enjoys swimming, cooking, baking, reading, interior design/decorating, baseball, football, and drawing.
