Walking into a therapy office for the first time can be stressful, filled with uncertainty. Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit can be frustrating, often met with understandable skepticism. Sessions should be a judgment-free space where clients feel supported and met where they are in their readiness for change. The overall goal is to empower clients with awareness and strategies to navigate life’s challenges and stressors.
Renee is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She began her career providing in-home and community-based services to individuals with traumatic brain injuries and disabilities, a role she held for four years. She then transitioned to working in a mental health partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and establishing an outpatient group therapy program (OP). While she greatly enjoyed the supportive nature of group therapy, she later shifted her focus to providing individual therapy for older adolescents and adults.
Renee believes in meeting clients where they are in their journey toward change. She understands that therapy can feel overwhelming, and she strives to create a space for non-judgment, active listening, feedback, and skill-building. She has training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, humanistic approaches, trauma-focused and trauma-competency care, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and strength-based approaches.
One message she often shares with clients is that therapy is most effective when approached with an open mind—clients will get out of therapy as much as they put into it.
My name is Renee, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. The beginning of my career included offering in-home and community based services to clients with traumatic brain injuries and disabilities, which I did for four years. I then transitioned to working in a mental health partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), and establishing an outpatient group program (OP); all three modalities were primarily group therapy settings. While I greatly enjoyed group therapy because it can offer support that individual therapy does not, I transitioned to providing individual therapy services for older adolescents and adults.
I believe it is important to meet clients where they are in the process of change; therapy can be overwhelming, and that is okay. The goal would be to allow the opportunity for non-judgment, active listening, feedback, and teaching coping skills. I have training in
areas of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Humanistic, trauma focused/trauma competency and EMDR, solution focused, mindfulness based (MB), and strength focused.
One statement I often make to clients is: you will get out of therapy as much as you put into it. Regardless of how uncertain you may be about therapy, try to approach it with an open mind.
