Kathleen Cawley, Therapist
Katie Cawley is a mental health counselor in Rhode Island. She brings with her a BA in Theatre from Wagner College; over 500 hours of training in yoga, breath work, mindfulness, and meditation; and an MA in clinical mental health counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. Katie spent much of her young adulthood traveling and, through studying and teaching yoga in a multitude of different settings, developed a passion for working with and guiding others on their healing journey. In 2020, at the height of the global coronavirus pandemic, Katie saw the growing demand for mental health providers and decided to enroll in a Master’s program that would allow her to help fill this gap. Katie’s approach to counseling is psychodynamic, somatic, relational-cultural, and person-centered. She helps her clients to explore the root of their presenting issues and limiting patterns, regulate their nervous systems, and forge new pathways that allow them to feel empowered, live more authentically, and maximize their potential. Throughout this process, Katie strives to work with clients within the context of their lived experiences, meet them where they’re at, and establish a collaborative relationship that allows client’s a sense of agency and choice on their therapeutic journey. Katie hopes that therapy can be as transformative an experience for clients as it has been for her and has experience working with clients ranging from ages 6 to 64 who are struggling in relationships and experiencing issues including anxiety, depression, BPD, eating disorders, complex trauma and PTSD, substance use disorders, disabilities, covert narcissistic abuse, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodivergence, and self-harm. In her free time, Katie enjoys theatre, writing, making music, hiking, reading, writing, cooking, and yoga.
