Susan Winsor, Therapist

Susan Winsor is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island who has been practicing since 2003. Susan has worked in various roles, including as a hospital clinician providing support to patients and their families in the ICU, Birthing Center, Emergency Department, and Behavioral Health settings. She has expertise providing support to persons experiencing complicated grief, loss, and end-of-life decision making. Susan has great empathy regarding the struggles to maintain one’s personal integrity and autonomy in difficult relationships. She understands how difficult it is for a person to recognize and determine to either stay or leave an abusive relationship and respects them in their decision while helping them to plan for safety. While employed at a local funeral home, Susan gained experience working with families and friends left heartbroken after the suicide of a loved one. During her private practice prior to COVID, her client base were men and women with symptoms of PTSD who were brave, wanting to talk through the physical and sexual abuse they had experienced as children and how it had impacted their decision-making throughout their lives. Susan has a strong belief in a person’s strengths and supports them in their quest for autonomy. Outside of work, Susan loves to read and garden.
