Renee Hampton, Therapist
Rene’e M. Hampton is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. With more than twenty-five years of clinical experience, she began her career as a State Employee serving in such capacities as Vocational Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor, Clinical Consultant and Child Advocate. Prior to embarking upon clinical practice in the private sector, she also served diverse populations experiencing crises warranting stabilization through in-patient hospitalization and treatment. As a Practitioner of the Healing Arts, she employs an eclectic approach utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities that best serve the individual needs of the clients served. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Ms. Hampton recognizes Cognitive Processing Therapy as a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy identified to treat trauma survivors. With this treatment modality, in combination with unconditional positive regard, Ms. Hampton has witnessed the gains made in overall functioning and the quality of life of trauma survivors. Family Caregiver Supportive Therapy to the Informal Caregivers of individuals diagnosed with chronic disorders is also a focal point of Ms. Hampton’s practice. She is well aware of the sacrifices made by the Informal Caregiver of these individuals. Chronic disorders such as mental illness, including Mood Disorders, Schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, can be overwhelming to the family member or friend serving in this role. In addition to mental illness, terminal medical disease and the negative residual effects of Substance Use/Abuse/Addiction can also be overwhelming. As an Informal Caregiver, you are at risk of high levels of stress and burnout due to the demands associated with the numerous responsibilities of this role. Moreover, because this is a vital role, you, too, require emotional support to combat the myriad of emotions that oftentimes accompany the role of Informal Caregiver. Ms. Hampton considers it a privilege to embark upon this journey of self-discovery alongside you. In a therapeutic and supportive manner, you can expect unconditional positive regard as you navigate through life’s challenges and identify tools to regain a sense of healthy control and normalcy during your journey. You will discover how you can make a positive difference in your life one day at a time. Outside of work, Ms. Hampton enjoys spending quality time with family, watching movies, listening to music, and reading.
