Abigail Harris, Therapist
Abby is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate in the State of Texas. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Amberton University and holds her undergraduate degree from East Texas Baptist University in Childhood Education. Abby offers individual counseling for both adolescents and adults of all ages.
Prior to working at LifeStance, Abby began her counseling career by working at Dallas Life Foundation – a homeless shelter and relief organization in downtown Dallas. This first experience gave Abby a well-rounded view of the human experience and struggle. It also instilled in her a passion to provide mental health care to anyone in need, particularly the marginalized and underprivileged. Before Dallas Life, immediately after departing her undergraduate studies, Abby adventured on a eleven-month mission trip to eleven countries and continued that journey as a overseas missionary for the next eight years. This experience stirred a desire in her to eventually counsel people of all ethnicities as they navigate the many challenges in this work.
Abby specializes in:
Depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders such as bipolar disorder
Spiritual issues
Relationship struggles and boundary issues
Exploration of identity, purpose and meaning of life
Church hurt and spiritual abuse
Life transitions
Grief
Abby loves to create a space in counseling where clients feel safe and cared for. Abby believes that counseling should be a collaborative space where clients feel heard as well as guided. She loves to meet people where they are, even if they don’t share her worldview. Her goal is to help individuals walk in more freedom, better understand themselves, and become more grounded in the lens through which they see the world.
Abby is happily married to her husband Jeremy Harris. Abby loves watching movies, playing games, and quality time with friends and family.
Abby’s favorite quote at the moment by Brene Brown. It says: “We are complex beings who wake up every day and fight against being labeled and diminished with stereotypes and characterizations that don’t reflect our fullness. Yet when we don’t risk standing on our own and speaking out, when the options laid before us force us into the very categories we resist, we perpetuate our own disconnection and loneliness. When we are willing to risk venturing into the wilderness, and even becoming our own wilderness, we feel the deepest connection to our true self and to what matters the most.”
