Carissa Toviessi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has been practicing since 2016. She graduated from University of Texas Arlington with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2009. Carissa believes in a collaborative and authentic client-centered approach. Her approach is to instill change through exploration, problem-solving, identifying achievable goals to aide clients in reprocessing and heal from symptoms of emotional distress.
She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, EMDR (Eye movement and desensitization and reprocessing), and utilizes attachment-based approaches . Her primary areas of focus include an extensive background in anxiety, depression, and trauma related issues.
In her spare time, Carissa enjoys enhancing her skills through being a career student in search of knowledge through reading, attending, and participating in workshops and seminars. She is a cultural lover who enjoys art, museums, and believes wholeheartedly in self-care and personal development by practicing yoga, meditation, taking long walks.
