Karin Hunt, Therapist
Karin Hunt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas who has been practicing since 1999. She has a Masters in Social Work has consistently sought out opportunities to grow herself and her skills throughout her years of practice. She believes in continuing her education and learning how to stay current with new ideas to be able to best provide for her clients. Karin is a relationship-based therapist. She views the relationship as the practice ground for new skills and a safe place from which the client can draw new experiences. She believes that it is so fundamental to the outcome of therapy, that she connect with her clients. Karin will use different modalities like CBT, DBT skills, EMDR and trauma based experiential or homework exercises so that she can carefully and intentionally create a treatment plan and goals for each individual. She also works to empower her clients to be in control of the pace of change, what information they share and how they use or don’t use what they talk about in session in their lives outside of therapy. Karin views her role as a reflection point for people to see themselves through these new ways. She also feels that the work she does, while challenging, is amazing. It can be a real privilege to be part of someone’s life in such a direct way. She tries to continue her own personal growth and respect that we all are works in progress. In her spare time, Karin enjoys being with her people, her family, her friends. She has always loved seeing the world and traveling. She loves cooking, learning new skills, knitting, and reading. Her family keeps her busy with their many interests and she works hard to find balance between relaxing and being on the go.
