Richard Villa, Therapist
Richard A. Villa is a Bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor, a Master Addictions Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and a Certified School Counselor in Virginia who has been practicing since 1991. Richard has served as a Military and Family Life Counselor at various military installations both in the United States and abroad. Additionally, he has taught psychology courses at Navarro College and at Texas A&M University. Richard has also completed all coursework for his doctorate and hopes to finalize his program soon. Richard has a diverse mental health and substance abuse background and experience. He has served in leadership roles in Community Supervision and Corrections Department in Texas. In the academic field, he has served as a counselor at all levels of academia with students from elementary to university age. Richard has also served as an Employee Assistance Professional with a Virginia school system and county agency. He has also managed an HIV intervention and prevention program. Previously, Richard was employed as a Behavioral Health Assessment Specialist in a psychiatric emergency center and emergency medical center for several years. He has also gained experience as a case manager with a managed care organization and worked as a private practice therapist with several community counseling organizations. Richard has volunteered his time with various organizations that serve community, governmental and local populations, including in law enforcement, diversity, and mental health. Outside of work, Richard enjoys travelling, painting, and animals (pets).
